The first train for London departs Winchester shortly after 5.00 a.m. on weekdays, soon after 5:30 a.m. on Saturdays and just before 7.00 a.m. on Sundays. Peak fares apply on travel to London before 9:30 a.m. There are then several trains every hour until shortly after 23:30 p.m. when the final train for London departs Winchester.
Taking the Train from Winchester
All trains from Winchester to London depart from Winchester Train Station, which is located to the northwest of central Winchester on Station Road. For those travelling on foot, the station is a 5-minute walk from the High Street or 4 minutes via the No.5 bus from the bus station. Taxis are available to and from the station at all times. Winchester is a small two platform station with all London-bound trains departing from the same platform.
Trains from Winchester arrive into London via one of the city's main southern terminus', London Waterloo. From London Waterloo, visitors can choose either the Northern, Bakerloo or Jubilee underground line to connect with anywhere else in London. The West End is approximately five minutes by tube, whilst the City of London can be reached in under ten minutes.
