Boarding, Seats & Luggage
Unlike travelling out of Tokyo Station, the major bullet train departure point in Osaka is located slightly outside the city centre. When taking the Shin Osaka to Hiroshima train, remember that all Shinkansen services depart exclusively from Shin-Osaka Station.
If you are starting your journey in central Osaka, you cannot take an Osaka Station to Hiroshima bullet train directly. You must first take a quick 4-minute local JR train transfer from Osaka Station (Umeda) up to Shin-Osaka.
Seats and Luggage Rules
When booking, you can choose between ordinary non-reserved seats, ordinary reserved seats, and the spacious Green Car (first class).
You must also be aware of the Osaka Hiroshima Shinkansen luggage policies. If you are travelling with large suitcases, any bag with total dimensions (height + width + depth) between 161 cm and 250 cm requires a dedicated oversized luggage Shinkansen reservation.
