Advantages
IconSurfing on the mobile phone
Disadvantages
IconUnpunctuality
Our open-plan compartment was quiet and clean, and the toilets were also in good condition. There was a wide selection of food in the on-board bistro and we both enjoyed the pumpkin soup. Well satiated, we continued our journey to reach our destination on time as well. We were satisfied all round.
Advantages
IconTime for yourself
Disadvantages
IconConnection missed
I missed the connection from Mannheim. Luckily I managed to get a final train. I tend to be very happy to be able to travel by train, but the frequency of delays is very high. If the railway could improve punctuality and also offer cheaper tickets, it would be a good alternative.
Advantages
IconVery quiet
IconOn time
Disadvantages
IconNone
I spent this journey of a little less than 2 hours in 1st class. 1st class has slightly better and larger seats than 2nd class. It also stands out, there is a power socket for every seat. I reserved my seat beforehand in the DB Next app and I was able to sit on it without any problems. The toilets looked the same as those in 2nd class, but were clean. It was a bit of a pity that the small chocolate was no longer available, as it used to be. With a journey time of less than 2 hours, the price-performance ratio was okay.
Advantages
IconFast connection
IconClean
IconNo delays
Disadvantages
IconNo wifi
The journey with the ICE 100 from Mannheim to Cologne was very quick. Within 1.5 hours, you were in Cologne. The ticket was a bit expensive, in my opinion. However, the train was in excellent condition, it was clean and technically it seemed flawless. There were no delays along the entire route. Unfortunately, the wifi was not available that day. Otherwise, I can recommend the trip.

The train journey from Mannheim to Cologne was satisfactory overall. The train offered excellent cleanliness in the carriages, but also in the toilets. The ICE was in Cologne within 1.5 hours, which was very fast. There was a bistro where you could get a good selection of food and drinks. The service was excellent. There were no delays during the entire train journey. The connection is definitely recommended.
Advantages

IconCleanliness
Disadvantages
IconOvercrowded train
IconUnreliable wifi
The train journey from Mannheim to Cologne had its pros and cons. The cleanliness and comfort of the train were commendable. The seats were comfortable and the journey was mostly on time. The view of the passing countryside was beautiful. However, there were also some negative aspects. The wifi on the train was often unreliable, which was annoying. The on-board restaurant was expensive and the selection was limited. The train was also overcrowded, which limited comfort. Overall, the journey was fine, but there is room for improvement.

Disadvantages
IconNo wifi
We travelled from Mannheim to Cologne on the ICE 518 in second class. Thanks to the air conditioning, the comfort on board was very good. The cleanliness and hygiene of the train also contributed to the general feeling of well-being. The train was on time for the entire journey. The service was good, all the staff were polite and friendly. Unfortunately, the wifi was not working that day.
Advantages

IconPunctual
Disadvantages
IconPoor wifi signal
My journey from Mannheim to Cologne was a pleasant direct connection. I didn't reserve a seat, but there were plenty of free seats. The train was well equipped, with power sockets, wifi and a bistro. However, the wifi signal left something to be desired. The train left Mannheim on time and reached Cologne without delay. All in all, a connection worth recommending.
Advantages
IconPunctuality
Disadvantages
IconNone
On the way back to Cologne, I travelled with my girlfriend, who I picked up in Mannheim. The train was on time and I was able to forget the stressful everyday life around me. It was also kept very clean and hygienic. Another positive aspect was that the temperature on the train smelled just right. I would like to mention that I definitely recommend buying the ticket online. Recommendation!
Advantages

IconBistro
Disadvantages
IconSmall selection of dishes in the bistro
I travelled from Mannheim to Cologne on the ICE. I didn't reserve a seat, but there were a few free seats available. The journey only took a short 1.5 hours. During this time you could get a coffee in the bistro. However, the choice of food was limited. The seats were extremely comfortable, which was good for a short nap. There were delays on the journey.
