The Hauptbahnhof is located on all 4 of Hamburg's U-Bahn lines, but it is central enough to reach by foot from many hotels. If you are coming from outside the center, the circular U3 line will be the best option. The underground runs until late, but for departures in the middle of the night a taxi is advisable.
