I recommend such journeys more in the off-season, however, as everything is always packed during the summer, especially with the €9 and €49 tickets, so many people don't even save on the express train fares or use them without a ticket.

Board bistro was closedFrom Cologne to Mannheim, no change had been necessary and it had been a normal volume and a normal occupancy of the train. The service was not good in my opinion, as the on-board bistro had closed. However, the staff had been polite. The seats on the train were very comfortable and there was plenty of legroom when sitting down. There were also power sockets and an internet connection. The train was clean and the toilets smelled very good.
It was also good that the train was not delayed.
