Trains start close to 07:30 a.m. each morning and run until later in the evening and you'll have the choice of a couple of train services. Al trains travelling between these two destinations depart from the same station in Rome and arrive at the same station in Bari. Travel times vary depending on the type of train you take and varies between around 4h or closer to 6h 30min. Only one of the routes requires changes along the way, the train you start the journey on will be the train you end the journey on for the rest of them.If you're planning a train trip from Rome to Bari, you'll be glad to know several options are available daily. The first train leaves Rome Termini station around 07:30 a.m. each morning, with a couple of trains operating between then and 06:05 p.m. when the last train leaves the station. On an average day, you'll find at least eight trains operating between these stations and all trains are direct routes between Rome and Bari except for one around 02:20 p.m. This train stops over at Pescara Centrale before heading to Bari.
Your travel time between Rome and Bari depends entirely on the type of train you end up taking. You'll have the choice of two high_speed trains, high_speed regional trains, and standard intercity trains. If you're taking the high_speed Frecciargento train from Rome Termini, expect a travel time around 4h 05min. The other high_speed train is called a Frecciarossa, which will take around the same time, give or take a few minutes. The intercity train is usually the first train at around 07:30 a.m. and takes around 6h 25min. The longest train route is operated by the high_speed regional train, Regionale Veloce, and comes with a single changeover en route. This trip typically takes around 6h 45min depending on how long the change takes.

Rome Termini is the primary trains station operating in Rome and is located in the city centre. The station is connected to the rest of the city through regional trains that run to the Vatican, the Metro, local tour buses, and taxis which can be found outside the station. Termini is also home to a variety of services and amenities, including numerous eateries located inside and outside the station, bars and trattorias above ground level, a minimarket further along on platform 1, luggage services, accessible toilets, ATMs, and much more.
Arrival train station: Bari Centrale train station is the main station in Bari and the arrival station for all trips between these two cities. It's not as entertaining as the major stations in Italy like Rome Termini but it's an important connection point in the south of the country. It's located in the city centre and connected to the rest of the city via the Metro, as well as local taxis. The station is home to several services including Sala Blu for those needing assistance, an executive lounge, several bars and shops to grab something to eat and some souvenirs, as well as a luggage storage facility, ATMs, restrooms, a ticketing office, and information centre.
Due to the popularity of this route, there is only one train company operating routes between these stations every day. Trenitalia provides a wide range of train services throughout the country and is the primary train operator for Italy, owned by the Italian government. Trenitalia offers an intercity train that leaves as early as 07:30 a.m., a couple of high_speed trains that offer the fastest route between these destinations, and a regional train that makes a single stop in Pescara en route.
Trenitalia is the sole train company operating between Rome and Bari and provides at least eight daily trains for you to choose from. They offer a wide range of train services throughout the country but there will only be four different services offered along this route. The frequent options are the two high_speed trains, Frecciarossa and Frecciargento, which cover the distance in around 4h. The intercity option leaves first thing in the morning and takes just shy of 6h 30min, while the regional train is the only train with a changeover en route and will take around 6h 45min.
Trenitalia offers you a choice between first and second_class tickets. These tickets don't differ much in terms of luggage allowance, you'll still be limited to one large stowaway and hand luggage like a handbag or laptop bag, but there are other perks. You'll have more legroom and more comfortable seats, as well as charging stations, a foldable table, and food and beverages when they're available. Trenitalia is committed to assisting travellers with disabilities. You can visit Sala Blu at any of the departure stations or contact Trenitalia 48h in advance and arrange assistance.
Unfortunately, there are currently no night trains available for this route. The last train leaves Rome Termini railway station around 06:05 p.m. each evening and arrives in Bari just after 10:00 p.m.
