Flights from London to Athens: Journey Details

Direct flights from London to Athens depart every day of the week, between approximately 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. There are around 20 flights per day with many different airlines, including Aegean Airlines, Easyjet, British Airways and US Airways. This flight takes around 3.5 hours.

Taking a Flight from London

Flights depart from three London airports; Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick. From the city centre, Heathrow is 25 kilometres west, Gatwick is 43 kilometres south and Stansted is 62 kilometres north. All three airports have express train services from the centre of London, there are also many bus routes available which tend to take longer. Stansted Express trains leave from Tottenham Hale or London Liverpool Street Stations every 10-15 minutes. The journey takes around 40 minutes, they run until 11:25 p.m. and then there is an additional train at 3:40 a.m. The Gatwick Express takes 30 minutes from Victoria Station, trains leave every 15 minutes between 5:00 a.m. and midnight, plus additional trains leave at 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. The Heathrow Express departs from Paddington Station, takes 15-20 minutes and runs every 15-30 minutes until 11:25 p.m.

Flying into Athens

The ancient city of Athens dates back 4000 years and still features some fascinating architecture and ruins displaying this long history. The Acropolis Museum is in an ultra modern building which, in stark contrast, houses 4000 relics found in and around the Parthenon. Athens airport is 40 kilometres south east of the city. Metro and Suburban Trains link the airport and city in around 30 minutes, they run until between midnight and 1:00 a.m.
