Alitalia History
The national airline of Italy, Alitalia was founded on the 12th March 1999. Alitalia's main hub can found at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, in Rome where the airline is also headquartered. The airline is now a part of the UAE based Etihad Airways that took a 49 percent stake in Alitalia starting on 1st January 2015.
Alitalia Airports and Destinations
The largest airline in Italy, Alitalia is based in Rome and has secondary hubs and focus cities located across Italy in famous cities including Turin, Milan and Venice. The airline has seen an increase in its routes and passenger numbers in recent years, which reached 25 million in 2011. Alitalia flies to more than 100 destinations around the World, with a focus on Europe, Asia and North America.
Alitalia Services
Passengers travelling in the business and Magnifica business classes can take advantage of all Alitalia and Sky Team lounges in airports around the World. Online and self-check-in options are available at some airports, which allow customers to choose their own seats. Each seat in the majority of Alitalia aircraft provides access to a personal entertainment screen in the rear of the seat.
Alitalia Ticket Types
Alitalia offers its passengers four different classes of tickets to choose from, each with its own specific advantages for passengers. Magnifica business and business classes both offer access to the lounges offered by the airline, Magnifica business class also offers a full reclining bed option and dedicated check-in desks. Premium economy offers passengers a high level of comfort with ergonomically designed seats and free checked bags up to 23kg. Economy class offers access to in-flight entertainment and onboard meals and complimentary soft drinks.
