Scandinavian Airlines History
Scandinavian Airlines, or SAS, as it is known, was formed in 1946 and has since become the largest airline in the whole of Scandinavia. Every year Scandinavian Airlines flies 30 million passengers, and due to their membership with airline alliance, they offer flights to 1,300 destinations in 193 countries worldwide, using their partners within Star Alliance. The main hub for SAS is Copenhagen-Kastrup Airport in Denmark, but there are also major SAS hubs at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport in Sweden and Oslo Airport in Norway.
Scandinavian Airlines Airports and Destinations
Scandinavian Airlines flies to 80 destinations in Europe, the United States and Asia from their hubs in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. They also fly to more destinations within Scandinavia than any other airline. Passengers can fly with SAS from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Scandinavian Airlines Services
Scandinavian Airlines has a focus on frequent travelers, offering more departures and destinations than any other Nordic carrier. This means that it is the airline of choice for both leisure and business travelers to and within Scandinavia. Fares are competitively priced making SAS a definite option for anyone considering a low-cost carrier. On intercontinental flights, there is an in-flight entertainment system and complimentary food and drinks. Passengers on domestic flights within Scandinavia can choose to buy food and drink on board. SAS Plus, SAS Business, EuroBonus Diamond and EuroBonus Gold members can use the SAS lounges at the airport for free, whereas SAS Go ticket holders can pay a small fee to be able to use the services and enjoy the buffet.
Scandinavian Airlines Ticket Types
SAS Go passengers can select their desired seat by checking online before the flight. There is a small fee applicable for the most sought after spaces in the cabin. All SAS tickets come with one checked and one hand luggage bag for free. SAS Plus customers can enjoy extra baggage allowance, complimentary food and drink on the plane and fast track through the airport. SAS Business includes a sleeper seat, on board buffet and comfort kit as well.
