Coaches to Vienna stop at two places in the city centre. The main terminus is Vienna International Busterminal (VIB) which is used by Flixbus. This can be found near the Erdberg subway station in the heart of the city and near to good road and rail links. Regiojet services terminate kerbside at Waldmanngründen on the corner of the Südtirolerplatz. This is to the west of the city and near Vienna Central Station.
Regiojet and Flixbus both offer coach services to Vienna. There are, however, no direct routes. One connection is required and this is made in cities such as Prague, Cologne, Paris, Brussels or Amsterdam. There are up to five departures a day from either London Victoria Coach Station or London Victoria Green Line Station. Departure times vary slightly throughout the week.
Although the overall journey time when travelling by coach from London to Vienna takes between 23.5 and 31 hours it is less complicated than making the journey by train and very often cheaper than flying between the two cities. Although all departures to Vienna are from London, most major cities and towns throughout mainland UK have long-distance bus links to Victoria Coach Station. Both Flixbus and Regiojet have modern bus fleets with comfortable seats and onboard services that include toilets, power outlets and wifi.
Like all European cities, Vienna is packed with historic and cultural attractions but for something a little more out of the ordinary, perfect if you are travelling on a budget, simply wander around exploring the city's photogenic courtyards and squares.
