Travelling from London to Frankfurt

Plane

Getting from London to Frankfurt by air is straightforward with over 200 flights available per week. National carriers British Airways and Lufthansa offer frequent daily flights from Heathrow and Gatwick to Flughafen Frankfurt am Main. Budget carrier Ryanair also offers flights from Stansted to Frankfurt Hahn which is some 120 kilometres from the city. The flight takes around 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Buses

Eurolines offers daily direct coaches departing early afternoon from London's Victoria Station. Evening departures are also offered on Mondays and Fridays. The journey lasts 13 and a half hours and terminates at Frankfurt's Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) a major hub for local buses and trams and the S-Bahn and U-Bahn.

Trains

19 trains run each weekday between London and Frankfurt with travelling times varying between 6 hours and 26 minutes and 9 hours and 48 minutes. The fastest option is to take a Eurostar from London St Pancras for the 1 hour 55 minute trip to Brussels-Midi. 11 trains run this route each day (8 on Sundays). Passengers then switch to an InterCity Express (ICE) train for the thrice daily run to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. Morning​ afternoon and evening departures are offered. An alternative route from Brussels is to take an ICE or Thalys high-speed train for the 1 hour 57 minute journey to Cologne (Köln Hbf) and the take an ICE on to Frankfurt.
