Taking a Flight from Manchester

Manchester Airport is located around 10 miles to the south of the city centre, but is well connected to central locations. The quickest way to reach the airport is by taking trains run by Transpennine Express and Northern Rail, which depart from Manchester Piccadilly every 10 minutes. The journey time is around 20 minutes. Local buses 18, 19, 105 and 199 run from central locations to the airport, while the 43 bus offers a 24 hour transport link as well. To reach the early departure to Rome, taxis may also be a sensible option.

One of the greatest cities of the ancient world, the home of Catholicism and home to great Renaissance artists like Michelangelo, Rome continues to enchant visitors. All flights from Manchester to Rome arrive at Ciampino Airport, which is to the south-east of the old town. To get from there to the city centre, a good option is to catch a local Cotral bus to Ciampino Station and take the train into Termini. This can take as little as 20 minutes in total. Bus companies serving the airport include Terravision, Cotral, Atral and SIT - all of which offer connections to city centre districts.
