Air France History
Air France was formed in 1933 from a merger of a number of existing airlines, both passenger and cargo services. The airline was the national flag carrier for seven decades before merging with the Dutch airline, KLM. Air France was also a founding member of the SkyTeam airline alliance enabling its passengers to fly to more destinations using the partner airlines. Air France's global hub is Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, from where it serves 25 cities in France and 168 destinations in 93 countries around the world.
Air France Airports and Destinations
The main hub for Air France is Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, but it has secondary hubs at Paris Orly, Lyon, Toulouse, Nice and Marseille. The airline flies both domestic and international flights to single destinations as well as connecting flights. Through their partner airlines with SkyTeam, Air France fly to every corner of the globe.
Air France Services
Air France carries both leisure and business travellers with four different classes of ticket available. Economy Class is a hybrid of both traditional and budget style, therefore some passengers have a meal included in their ticket price, whereas others can choose to bring their own food or purchase on board snacks. Services on board include in-flight entertainment, and on the A380 passengers can download content such as city guides or playlists to their USB or electronic devices. There are more than 300 Air France and SkyTeam airport lounges around the world and passengers can check whether they have access online.
Air France Ticket Types
With a new and unique option, short haul Economy ticket holders travelling in France or the rest of Europe can choose between a Classic ticket which includes free checked baggage and the ability to select a seat, or a Mini ticket for hand luggage only. This essentially enables the customer to be able to choose between a low-cost or standard service. Premium Economy flyers have a dedicated section of the plane with more leg room and wider seats. Business Class ticket holders can choose to have an Air France team member to guide them through the airport and past all the queues to the lounge. On board, Business Class flyers have a seat that transforms into a full bed and will be treated to food created by Michelin-starred chefs. First Class passengers can experience chauffeur-driven transfers, spacious cabins and a full bed with duvet.
