How to Get to Swindon by Bus
Swindon is easily accessible via bus from most areas within the UK. From some of England's most populous cities, there are multiple direct trips each day. 11 leave daily from London Victoria Coach Station, taking about 2 hours to reach Swindon. These journeys are provided by National Express. However, some other cities, including Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow, require routes with one change. There are two stops in Swindon, both conveniently located. One is at New Bridge Square, just blocks from STEAM, the railway museum, while the other is on Queen's Drive near New College Swindon. Both stops, however, are along local bus routes, allowing you to easily travel around the city.
Swindon
Located in southern England just east of Bristol, Swindon is a beautiful city with a gorgeous old town and a bustling city centre. Before the arrival of the railway, Swindon was a small market town, and that tradition is still present in the city's older area, with charming alleyways filled with both quaint shops and restaurants and more modern stores and bars. The city's railway legacy is acknowledged at the STEAM museum, which is dedicated to the Great Western Railway and has artefacts including a full steam engine. Also exhibiting the city's past is the Lidyard Park, which was the home of the Viscounts Bolingbroke before becoming a tourist attraction. Lidyard House itself features much of the family's old furniture, and the lawns feature stunning landscaping and are a great place to while away an afternoon. With plenty of unique places to stay, including hotels and bed and breakfasts, Swindon is one of England's lesser known treasures.
