Buses and coaches arrive in Amsterdam from every major city in Europe, with Ouibus, Eurolines and Flixbus being some of the most popular with travellers in the western part of Europe.
Eurolines, Flixbus and Ouibus all run a good direct service between London Victoria and either Amsterdam Sloterdijk or Amsterdam Amstel, depending on what bus operator you decide to travel with. The journey time is approximately 11 hours from London; fares include the ferry crossing or channel tunnel. Overnight sleeper coaches to Amsterdam are also available for travellers.
Amsterdam Sloterdijk station is situated in the western part of the city. From here, visitors can take the Intercity or Sprinter train service to Amsterdam Centraal located in the heart of the city. This journey takes on average about 8 minutes in total. However, as bicycles are so popular here, a bit of pedal power may be the best way to see the city.
Many coach operators will let you take your own bike for a small surcharge, but be sure to check this in advance. Alternatively, reasonably good bikes can be hired from dozens of locations all over Amsterdam.
If travelling by bus from outside of London, a change will be required at London Victoria Station. However, from here there are several options for bus companies that go to Amsterdam, meaning there are lots of choices to be had.
