Advantages
IconVery child friendly
Disadvantages
IconNot always seats
The train connection from Wahrenholz to Uelzen and from Uelzen to Hamburg and back has surprised me overall in an extremely positive way. The child-friendliness of this connection deserves special mention. During my travels with my children, I have noticed that the trains are well equipped to provide a pleasant journey for the little passengers. There is ample space for prams, changing tables in the toilets and even play corners to keep the little ones entertained during the journey. This is a big plus that makes travelling with children much less stressful. What must be noted, however, is that there are not always free seats. Especially at rush hour, trains can be busy and it can be difficult to find seats. Therefore, I recommend booking tickets in advance to make sure you get a seat. Apart from this minor limitation, my experience with this train service was extremely positive. The trains were clean and on time, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the journey between Uelzen and Hamburg offered beautiful views of the countryside. Overall, I can highly recommend this train connection to families with children, as long as you make sure to book early.
Advantages
IconCleanliness
Iconcomfortable seats
IconPunctuality
Disadvantages
IconNo staff on the train
The journey in the regional express from Hamburg to Uelzen was very relaxing. The train had not had a high occupancy rate, which may be because I travelled on Sunday evening. The cleanliness on the train was acceptable, as well as in the toilets and the seats were comfortable. However, there had been no staff on the train. This was noticeable by the fact that there was no welcome announcement and the tickets were not checked. Otherwise, the train had been on time.
