Northern Rail, CrossCountry and East Midland provide frequent direct trains from Sheffield to Leeds. On weekdays, the service runs from early morning to late at night, with departures roughly every 10 minutes. Journey times range from around 40 minutes to an hour and 20 minutes. Sunday services are less frequent, with a slightly later departure time for the first train in the morning. Weekday departures from Sheffield from 9:50 a.m. onwards qualify for off-peak day return tickets.

Taking the Train from Sheffield

Trains from Sheffield to Leeds depart from the main railway station, which is located to the south-east of the city centre. The Stagecoach Supertram service has a stop outside the station for journeys to the city centre and outlying areas. There is a pedestrian walkway connecting the railway station to the central bus interchange where Stagecoach city buses serve numerous routes around Sheffield and the local region. There is a taxi rank at the front of the station.
