The Trenitalia trains to Pompei depart from Garibaldi station on the underground track and run for about 45 minutes. The carriages are quite clean and the screens show the current and upcoming stops. I recommend NOT buying the ticket in advance via app. During our journey, the Trenitalia system had a glitch and we could not show our QR codes. This was not a pleasant feeling and made the journey through the actually beautiful countryside stressful. By the way, from Pompei station you can reach the excavations on foot in 15 minutes. No need to buy expensive tickets for excursions
