The train was in good, well-maintained condition. It wasn't dirty or anything. I reached Düsseldorf station on time and was able to catch my connecting train. There was wifi and power sockets to use on board. The service was good, the staff all friendly.

Took a little longI took the S1 from Essen Hbf to Düsseldorf Hbf and I'll now list a few things I noticed. The S-Bahn had quite a lot of equipment, such as wifi, but unfortunately no power sockets. The comfort was also perfect. The seats were comfortable and it was relatively quiet. It was also very clean and the rubbish was emptied in the accompanying bins. The service was also good. The train had a display where you could easily keep an eye on the next station. Personally, I didn't have to change trains because the S1 went directly there. I can't complain about the punctuality either, because I only had to wait 5 minutes. Price-performance ratio was also top, because you get the Schokoticket for one month for about 30 € and you can travel in the whole VRR area. I found this trip very good and would do it again.

The staff were also friendly when checking the tickets. The seats were comfortable with a backrest and a table. There were also plenty of power sockets and internet access. I found the cleanliness of the train to be very good. The toilets were also hygienic. I didn't have to change trains here. Unfortunately, the announcements didn't work here, so you didn't know which stop was next. I was only familiar with this route as I often travelled along it.
