Advantages

Disadvantages
IconA little late
My experience from the first time travelling by train from Düsseldorf to Essen was quite positive. The staff were very nice and friendly and greeted us passengers warmly. The internet connection was also relatively good - better than you normally get and the sockets were always stable.
Advantages
IconQuiet volume
Disadvantages
IconOften delayed
On my journey to Essen, I noticed many things on the train, such as the free wifi and the nearby power sockets. The seats were quite comfortable for the short journey, but I would not recommend the seats for long journeys as they become uncomfortable over time. I would avoid the toilets as they are often very dirty. Also, the train was delayed by 15 minutes which shocked me. For the price, the journey is quite good.

I took the S1 from Düsseldorf Hbf to Essen Hbf and I am evaluating this now. In terms of facilities, it was relatively good. It had good and fast wifi, but no sockets. In terms of comfort, the seats were comfortable and it was very quiet. The whole train was clean. The S-Bahn has no WCs. I personally didn't have to change trains and the train was right on time. Price-performance ratio was also top, because the Schokoticket is very cheap, for about 30-40 €. You can use it to travel anywhere in the VRR area every month. In summary, it was very good and I would gladly travel with the S-Bahn again. I highly recommend it
Advantages
IconNo changeover
IconComfortable seats and very good catering facilities
IconFriendly staff
IconHygienic toilets
Iconshorter journey time
Disadvantages
IconS-Bahn cancelled
IconGears dirty
IconDelayed
Unfortunately, my S-Bahn train from Düsseldorf to Essen was cancelled, so I had to take the delayed regional express. This wasn't too bad, though, as it had a shorter journey time because it didn't stop at all the stations. I found the seats very comfortable here too and there was even a snack machine. There were also power sockets and a stable internet connection. Unfortunately, the train was a bit dirty, but this was due to the weather. The toilets, on the other hand, were clean and hygienic. The staff were very friendly and carried out a quick ticket check. There was no need to change trains on this journey.
Advantages
IconTrain was very clean
Disadvantages
IconA few minutes too late
We are very satisfied with the short train journey. We arrived a few (few) minutes late in Essen, therefore only 4 stars. The train was very clean and we had no problems finding a seat, sockets were available at the seats. Even the toilet was well cleaned.
