Darlington
Darlington is an important town in the north-east of England that grew in the 18th century as a textile production centre. This history is celebrated in the many museums and galleries found within the city. In the 1990s through to the 21st century a large amount of regeneration and development has gone on within the urban area. You will find a largely pedestrianised city centre filled with a mix of local and national stores. Many visitors enjoy visiting the Darlington Railway Centre and Museum, which celebrates the important history of the area during Victorian England. A huge number of attractions can be found in the local region, including the impressive Northern Echo Arena, which is home to the local football team and many concerts throughout the year. The city is also home to two arts centres, which feature touring productions of musicals, plays and internationally recognised bands.
