I travelled privately from Bonn to Cologne and took the IC train as the journey time was only 21 minutes. I often do this journey with Deutsche Bahn, as you can get from one central station to the other very quickly. Unfortunately, the train was almost an hour late today, which has been happening a lot recently ... just annoying! But the train is pleasantly empty and it's quiet on the train.

I travelled from Bonn to Cologne on the evening of Sunday 9.2.25 as part of a longer journey on an ICE train. The journey time of about 15 minutes beats the car by miles and I only needed 2 hours for my entire journey. The seats were comfortable and I had power, wifi and a window seat. Not so good was the cleanliness of the toilets and the unpunctuality. There was a catering service which I didn't use. The price of €35.99 for the whole journey is very reasonable as I booked months in advance. Broken down from Bonn to Cologne, it's less than €10, which is great!
Advantages
IconGood equipment and comfortable seats
IconClean train and on-board bistro
IconApproaches were announced
IconTrain was on time
Disadvantages
IconAbrupt driving
Iconno ticket control
The train had been quite comfortable, especially because of the comfortable seats and the extensive equipment. However, I was bothered by the fact that the train had braked and accelerated a lot. Connection announcements were made by the staff, but I was not checked for tickets. There was a restaurant in the middle of the train, which was very clean, as was the rest of the train. The train had been on time due to the abrupt driving style of the driver, but did not offer much relaxation.
Advantages

Disadvantages
IconPunctuality
Last week I travelled on business from Bonn to Cologne with the ICE 118 and can generally recommend this journey, but I must express slight criticism, as the ICE was 8 minutes late. As the connections in Cologne run quite regularly, this was not a problem, but in other cities or other cases such a delay can hinder the onward journey.
Advantages
IconDuration
Disadvantages
IconPunctuality
After I had already travelled there in the morning, I also travelled back on 30 June with the ICE 118 from Bonn main station to Cologne main station. In contrast to the connection in the morning, the ICE 118 was unfortunately 15 minutes late, almost doubling the distance of only 20 minutes. Despite the unpunctuality, the journey was quite comfortable and I also got a seat. The conductor was very friendly and the train itself was very tidy and hygienic.
Advantages
IconSpeed
Disadvantages
IconNone
On my journey yesterday from Bonn, Hauptbahnhof to Cologne Hauptbahnhof, I travelled very comfortably on the ICE 188. Both on departure and arrival, the ICE 100 was on time and despite the lack of a seat reservation, I even found a seat. However, this was not necessary as the journey time from Bonn to Cologne is only 20 minutes. I would always recommend the journey.
Advantages
IconSpeed
Disadvantages
IconHygiene
I also use this train connection for my return journey from shopping. Unfortunately, the hygiene in the trains leaves a lot to be desired. The seats are often dirty and there is a lot of rubbish lying around. In addition, some of the trains are very outdated. The doors often don't work. Otherwise, it's a great train connection to quickly get to the nearest larger city. The trains are equipped with wifi, so you won't get bored on the journey. Most of the time, the trains are on time. But one journey in the afternoon is regularly cancelled.

On my IC journey from Bonn, 3 days ago, on 17.05.2023 to Cologne, unfortunately not everything went as planned... the short ice journey was very comfortable, but unfortunately the wifi often failed. The cleanliness in the Ice was top! You can't complain about that. Unfortunately, the service was not that good and there was a big lack of staff...

I really enjoyed the journey from Bonn to Cologne. There was plenty of space and the train was very quiet. It was also on time and I didn't have to change trains. The conductor was very polite when checking tickets and greeted people. My seat was very comfortable and also had a table. The toilets and the train were very clean. What was unfortunately not available here was a snack machine and an internet connection.
Advantages
IconOn time, fast and reliable
Disadvantages

The train connection from Bonn to Cologne was punctual, the train departed exactly on time and reached its destination without any major delays. The cleanliness of the train was generally very good. The seats and floor were cleaned regularly and rubbish bins were available. The seats were also very comfortable and soft. There were power sockets at most seats, which was very convenient for charging devices while travelling. The toilets on the train were clean and well maintained. However, they were sometimes overcrowded during peak times. Overall, the train journey from Bonn to Cologne was a great experience for me. The punctuality and accessibility were particularly commendable.
Advantages
IconFast and punctual
Disadvantages
IconEverything went smoothly
The train connection was extremely punctual. The train arrived at its destination station exactly at the time announced. The price of the train journey was reasonable compared to other means of transport. However, it would be desirable if there were more discounts or special offers. The overall cleanliness of the train was good. The seats and floor were clean and cleaning was done regularly. The wifi on the train worked perfectly. The connection was stable and the speed allowed me to surf the internet during the journey without any problems. The toilets on the train were clean and well equipped. However, there were moments when they were a little overloaded. The seats on the train were comfortable and the floor was spacious. The ability to recline the seat helped to make the journey pleasant and relaxing. Overall, the train journey was a positive experience, with the punctuality, good wifi and comfortable seats being particularly impressive.
Advantages

Disadvantages
IconI have not discovered any weaknesses or had any negative experiences
The train connection from Bonn to Cologne was generally punctual. There were only occasional delays, but these were mostly minor. The train was very clean throughout the journey. The seats as well as the floor and windows were cleaned regularly. There were power sockets at most seats, which was very convenient for charging electronic devices. The train was barrier-free and had special areas for wheelchair users. The train staff were helpful when it came to assisting passengers with reduced mobility. The toilets on the train were mostly clean, but could be better maintained. The train had a bistro which offered a decent selection of food and drinks, the prices were reasonable. Overall, the train connection from Bonn to Cologne was very satisfactory. The punctuality and cleanliness of the train were very positive.

The train journey was very pleasant. I was given great advice beforehand and the service staff were very friendly. I got a great seat on the train and had enough space. The cleanliness is inadequate, as the rubbish bins were overflowing.

On the journey from Bonn to Cologne, the facilities were okay, there were enough power sockets, but the wifi was poor. The comfort was great, there was nothing to complain about, especially the pleasant volume was top. The service was amazing, the staff were always helpful and friendly. You can't speak so positively about the cleanliness, as the toilets were very dirty. The journey time was super quick. And the price was also okay
