Coaches to Florence

The majority of coaches to Florence from other cities in Italy and locations all over Europe arrive at the SITA coach station. Located on Santa Caterina di Siena Street, in the centre of the city, it is about 10 metres away from the Santa Maria Novella train station. This location is a hub for coach companies, such as ATAF and Li-nea, which run the public transport network within Florence. Tickets for these services are available from sweet shops and newspaper vendors. Eurolines provides coaches to Florence from major European cities such as Paris and Berlin, changing at Siena, which is 70 km away. ATAF runs the coach service between Florence and the international airport at Peretola. Baltour provides most of the routes to other Italian cities. Visitors to Florence can enjoy excursions into the Tuscan countryside using these coach services.

Florence

Florence is an ancient city and centuries of history are recorded in the streets and buildings. Passengers arriving at the SITA coach station are a ten minute walk away from the church of Santa Maria Novella, with its distinctive façade completed by architect Leon Alberti in 1470. The Piazza del Duomo, deemed to be the heart of Florence, is 500 metres away. Here, visitors can see the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with the red brickwork dome that Fillipo Brunelleschi designed and built in 1436. The Uffizi Gallery is filled with art treasures, the legacy of the many painters and sculptors that lived in Florence during the Italian Renaissance. A replica of Michelangelo's statue of David stands outside the Palazzo Vecchio, itself a luxurious town house and gallery, while visitors can see the original statue in the Galleria del'Accademia on Ricasoli Street.
