The best time to visit the city of Sorrento is in the Spring between March and June. The temperatures are warm, with daytime highs reaching the mid-70s on most days. May is considered the best month of the year to visit Sorrento, as the flowers are in bloom and the city is filled with the scent of orange flowers. The water is warm enough for swimming from late April, making this the ideal time for a beach holiday without the crowds of summer. The spring season is perfect for taking long walks to explore the surrounding countryside or city streets of Sorrento. In the summer months, the temperatures can reach the low 90s and the humidity can make walking around in the middle of the day unbearable. The city is very crowded in the summer months, making it difficult to find hotel vacancies or even a table at a restaurant. The festival of San Antonio takes place along the whole of the Amalfi Coast in late June and most towns, including Sorrento, host religious parades which are accompanied by street food and music festivals. The winter months provide mild temperatures, but many of the hotels close for the winter season.
