Nottingham is located 176 kilometres north of London and fast, convenient bus, train and air transport is available between the two cities. Trains offer the speediest option covering the route in half the time of buses. However, the absence of direct flights makes the plane the most time-consuming choice when factoring in transit times and airport shuttles at either end.
Return journeys from London to Nottingham are also available.
Coach travel between Nottingham and London is well served with National Express offering roughly 14 trips throughout the day. The fastest service takes 3 hours and 5 minutes with stops at London Golders Green and Marble Arch before terminating at Victoria. Other services take 3 hours and 20 minutes with stops at Milton Keynes Coachway and London Finchley Road. Megabus offers two departures daily from Station Street, outside Loxley House, Nottingham, to London Victoria. The first leaves at 8:00 a.m. and the other mid-afternoon. The journey takes around 3 hours and 40 minutes.
East Midlands Trains offers departures throughout the day every 30 minutes or so to both King's Cross and St Pancreas stations. Most are direct, some change at Grantham. The journey takes around 1 hour and 50 minutes making train travel the fastest way to travel between the two city centres.
Flights are available to London City Airport (LCY) from East Midlands Airport (EMA) located around 22 kilometres from the city of Nottingham. However, none are direct resulting in a minimum overall travel time of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Convenient transfers to the airport are offered via Skylink service from Nottingham Broadmarsh Bus Station for those wishing to fly.
