How to travel to Bayreuth cheaply?
Nuremberg Airport is the closest airport to Bayreuth, lying just 70 km south-west of the town. Major carriers such as British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, and Air France operate at Nuremberg Airport. The best way to get from Nuremberg Airport to Bayreuth is by catching the train from Nuremberg Train Station. Trains run regularly, with a duration of around one hour. A faster, yet more costly option is by taxi, which would take about 45 minutes.
The Bayreuth main train station lies 1km south of the town centre, on Bahnhofstrasse 1. Most trains travelling through Bayreuth stop here. Local buses connect the train station with the main bus station. The Regional Express network, as well as the Interregio-Express service, is connected to the train station. From here regional trains connect Bayreuth to other surrounding cities and towns, such as Dresden, Bamberg and Nuremberg.
Bayreuth’s main bus station lies close to the city hall, on Hohenzollerplatz. It is located in the centre of the town and is in walking distance to much of Bayreuth’s main attractions.
