Trains start as early as 05:25 a.m. each morning and run numerous times every hour between then and the last night train. There are two train operating companies providing services for this route with a combination of high_speed trains, regional trains, intercity trains, and night trains. You'll have the choice of a couple of departure stations and arrival stations, though the more frequent trains travel between Venice Santa Lucia and Rome Termini, the main train stations for each city.
Venice to Rome Train Time: Daily Departures
Travelling from Venice to Rome via train is popular with many visitors, as well as locals in the area. You'll find a variety of options available every day operated by two different train companies. The more frequent options are provided by Trenitalia and start around 05:25 a.m. each morning and run a couple of times an hour until the last train leaves around 11:20 p.m. each evening. There are about 34 Trenitalia trains travelling these routes every day. Italo is the other company that provides less frequent routes, though there are still at least eight Italo trains travelling these routes daily. They provide close to 34 daily train services between Venice and Rome that include high_speed trains that'll get you between the cities in under 4h without a changeover. You'll also find intercity trains with a couple of stops along the way, as well as night trains with a stopover in Bologna en route.
Train Venice to Rome: Services on Board
If you're travelling with Trenitalia between these destinations, you'll be able to choose between a first_class ticket and a second_class. You will still only be limited to one large piece of luggage for stowaway and additional hand luggage, but you'll get access to a larger, more comfortable seat with a folding table. You'll have charging points, free WiFi, and access to a food and beverage cart. If you want to take a bicycle with you, please call ahead and confirm a space if the bike is non_foldable, otherwise, you should be able to take the bike if it fits in the luggage compartment. There are two night trains available when ravelling along this route. Both trains are Trenitalia InterCityNotte trains which offer extra comfort for the trip. The first train departs from Santa Lucia around 11:05 p.m. and will arrive at Rome Termini around 06:35 a.m. the next morning. The last night train leaves Venice Mestre station around 11:17 p.m. and will arrive at Rome Termini around 06:35 a.m.
