Advantages
IconDespite booking at relatively short notice, you still get a super saver price
IconDirect connection almost every hour
IconClean
Disadvantages
IconHalf hour delay on departure
IconVery full
IconAccording to
From Hamburg to Karlsruhe there is a direct ICE (or partly IC) connection almost every hour, which saves "only" about an hour compared to the car (about 5.5 hours), but is much more relaxed and reliable. On this day, however, we unfortunately had a delay of about 30 minutes at departure, which at least did not increase during the journey. The train was, as you would expect on a Friday evening, very full and it was quite noisy. Nevertheless, it was at least clean and I was surprised that, despite booking at relatively short notice, I was able to get a super-saving price for Friday evening and was thus travelling very cheaply.
