On Mondays to Saturdays the first train departs early morning with trains then departing once or twice an hour until mid-evening. On Sundays the first train departs slightly later in the morning with a frequency of one train every one to two hours until the evening.
Taking the Train from Paris
Trains for Bordeaux depart from Paris Montparnasse, located to the southwest of the city in the Montparnasse district. The station is a major terminus for all trains bound for the south or west of France and can be easily reached from anywhere in Paris via the Metro system. For those arriving at the station from Central Paris, the Metro Line 4 takes approximately ten minutes from Chatelet to Montparnasse. The Metro runs from 5:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. and those departing outside of those times will be able to find a multitude of taxi services from anywhere in the centre of Paris.
Getting into Bordeaux by Train
The so-called 'sleeping city' is in fact anything but, and is instead a hubbub for culture and art in the southwest of France. The UNESCO protected city is abundant in stunning neoclassical architecture, notably the Grand Theatre, but is also home to a number of Roman, Gothic and Renaissance buildings.
