With no fewer than 20 direct flights from Monday to Friday and a total of four arrival airports, there are plenty of choices for flights from Switzerland's biggest city to the British capital. This shorter-range European route has a quickest scheduled flight time of 1 hour 35 minutes.
Swiss Air, the country’s national airline, flies daily, as does the UK flag carrier, British Airways. Both serve Heathrow and London City Airport. The UK-based budget carrier easyJet also flies into London Gatwick and Luton. Eurowings and Iberia are among the other European airlines offering a one-stop service, typically via Cologne or Dusseldorf.
Most direct services between Zurich and London’s arrival airports are clocked at between one hour 35 and one hour 55 minutes. However, it’s worth remembering that indirect flights involving a short stop may still have a considerably longer total journey time of five hours or longer.
The route's three main operators provide 20 direct flights between them from Sunday to Friday and at least 17 on Saturdays. Add in the services with a single layover and travellers have close to 30 journey choices a day.
Departure airport: Zurich’s three-terminal airport is the country’s main international hub. Its impressive Airport Centre provides bars and restaurants and airside duty-free shopping and has direct links to the local and national rail network and the Stadtbahn light rail system. Central Zurich is only 15 minutes away by train; it’s also accessible via the A51 motorway.
Arrival airport: London Heathrow offers all the cafes, restaurants, shopping and business services of Britain’s showcase airport, all within 20 minutes of London Paddington via Heathrow Express or around 40 minutes from Zone 1 by Tube. The compact City Airport is a popular business choice, at under 30 minutes by DLR from the city and 10 minutes from Canary Wharf. London Gatwick is served by direct trains to London Bridge and Victoria (via Gatwick Express). Luton Airport is a few minutes from the M1 and connects by shuttle to the main north-south railway line through London.
