Departure airport: Flights to Berlin will depart from Cologne/Bonn Airport. The 161 bus offers a convenient and affordable connection from Cologne's Porz Markt. Buses leave every 30 minutes during the day and should take around 15-20 minutes. Even better, travellers can catch high-speed trains from Cologne straight to the terminal. In that case, look for the S13, S19, RE6, or RE8 services, and leave 10-15 minutes for the journey. Shopping options include apparel stores, newsagents and more, and there are plenty of places to get something to eat before boarding.
Arrival airport: Flights from Cologne will arrive at Berlin Tegel Airport. There's no railway station at Tegel but buses provide regular, reliable links to most parts of central Berlin. One good option is to take the Express Bus X9 to Zoo Station, where travellers can transfer to U-Bahn or S-Bahn rail services. Alternatively, the TXL Express Bus runs to central districts and takes 37 minutes. There are taxi ranks outside Tegel's terminal, while car hire outlets are also available if required.
