PGA expanded its network to include scheduled international flights across Europe and North Africa, serving countries like France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, and Spain. Renowned for its high levels of service, PGA received numerous awards, including \Best European Regional Airline.\" In 2006, TAP Air Portugal Group acquired a majority stake in PGA, making it a regional subsidiary. In 2016, the PGA Portugalia name was retired, and the airline was rebranded as TAP Express, with its fleet replaced by Embraer E190s and ATR 72-600s.
