Named after the River Leam that runs through it, Leamington Spa is an English town located in the county of Warwickshire. Whilst it had been used as a spa town during Roman times, the town expanded rapidly due to the healing and medicinal qualities of the river, during the 18th and 19th Centuries.
The closest airport to Leamington Spa is Birmingham Airport, which is around half an hour away on the train. The airport operates national and international flights, particularly with budget airlines Monarch, Ryanair, and Flybe.
Due to its central location within England, many long distance trains from major cities pass through the town. The main railway station is on the south side of the town centre, with many services operating from London, as well as other major cities. Due to its close proximity to Birmingham, a major transport hub, it is easy to get to Leamington Spa from anywhere in the country.
National Express and Stagecoach run the coach services to Leamington Spa, including national services across the breadth of the country and a few international services too. A change in London or Birmingham may be necessary for travellers coming from less major towns.
As a relatively small town, getting around Leamington Spa can easily be done on foot, or bicycle thanks to the dedicated cycle lanes. The town does not get too congested, so driving is an option if necessary, and there are also good public transport routes across the town and its outskirts.
