There are no direct journeys; all services involve at least one change, at Edinburgh Waverly station. Trains depart from Manchester Piccadilly and arrive at Aberdeen station, with an average journey time of around 6 hours. There is also an overnight sleeper train between the two destinations - it leaves at about 6.45pm, arriving in Scotland the next day at about 7.15am following changes at Preston, Edinburgh Haymarket and Dundee.
Taking the Train from Manchester

It's easy to reach from other destinations in the city on foot or by the Metrolink Tram service, which has a terminus at the station.
