There is one change along the route at Alicant-Terminal where travellers must board another train to Benidorm. The departure station is Barcelona-Sants while the arrival station is Alicant-Terminal. While Renfe trains take an average of 4 hours and 50 minutes to reach Alicant-Terminal, it takes an average of 5 hours and 58 minutes for a Talgo train. There is a Spanish Railways train leaving the station every three hours, each day of the week.

Taking the Train from Barcelona

Trains from Barcelona to Benidorm-Alicante station depart from Barcelona Sants Station. This large international station is located South West of Barcelona and linked to the city by trams, Metro and buses, including tourist buses. Barcelona's efficient transport network is made up of Metro and buses, including many night time routes. Taxis are available at Barcelona Sants Station.

Getting into Benidorm by Train

Benidorm is a busy and popular tourist resort on the Costa Blanca coast of Spain, not far from Alicante. Benidorm is full of high-rise hotels, catering for all budgets, as well as having the long sandy beaches of Levante and Poniente, both with promenades, cafes and entertainment. Buses also run between Benidorm and Alicante. Benidorm is compact enough to explore on foot, but also has an excellent bus network, with routes running until midnight.
