Condor History
Condor was founded on the 21st of December 1955 as Deutsche Flugdienst GmbH and began scheduled flights on the 29th of March 1956. Two years after Lufthansa bought 95.5% of its stake in 1959, it took over Condor-Luftreederei and changed its name to Condor Flugdienst GmbH. The airline established itself as a leader in leisure air travel in the '60s and early '70s. It was gradually absorbed by Thomas Cook in 2000 and is now a part of the Thomas Cook Group.
Condor Airports and Destinations
Condor's main base is Frankfurt Airport, from where it operates most of its long-distance flights. Its secondary bases are Munich Airport (used mainly for Mediterranean flights), Hamburg Airport, Stuttgart Airport, Düsseldorf Airport, and Berlin Schönefeld Airport. The airline's focus is leisure destinations in North America, South America, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. It is the third largest commercial airline in Germany based on the size of its fleet and the number of passengers it carries.
Condor Services

Business Class passengers are provided with wider seats that convert to beds and include laptop charging and USB outlets, as well as a 15" screen for in-flight entertainment. These passengers also have the privilege of separate check-in counters at airports that Condor uses for long haul flights. The airline offers attractive cost-saving plans and free baggage allowance packages for all ticket types. It also provides airport-to-hotel transfers at more than 4000 destinations in partnership with Holiday Taxis.
