Flights to Nantes

Nantes Atlantique Airport is the largest airport serving Western France. It is situated 8km outside the city in the town of Bouguenais. Airlines that fly to Nantes include Easyjet, Volotea, Vueling, Hop! and Transavia France. Many destinations are serviced throughout Europe including London Gatwick, Lisbon, Brussels and Barcelona, it must be noted that many destinations are seasonal. The airport has no train station, but a shuttle bus operates between the airport, Nantes railway station and the city centre. The bus runs roughly every 30 minutes from the front of Hall 1. It takes 20 minutes to reach the railway station and 25 minutes to the city centre. A ticket costs 7€ and can be purchased on the bus. Taxis can be caught opposite hall 1 and will cost about 25-30 €.

Arriving in Nantes

Situated in the North-West of France, Nantes is a wonderful gateway to the Loire valley and Brittany. The heart of the town is placed around the castle- Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne. The actual chateau is 13th century, but the buildings that surround it range between 14th and 18th century, included in the Nantes history museum. North of the castle is the Gothic style Nantes cathedral that took 450 years to complete. Close to the castle and cathedral, you will find the Botanical Gardens which includes rare exotic species of flowers and plants from all over the world. The Machines de l’ile has some huge art works that symbolises the world of magical journeys and dreams.

How to Get to Nantes by Plane

A number of UK airports offer direct flight services to Nantes, with the main departure points being Gatwick Airport, Stansted Airport, Manchester Airport and Birmingham International. The main operators are Flybe, easyJet and Air France. On arrival you will land at Nantes Atlantique Airport which is located roughly 8 km south east of the city centre. To complete your journey into Nantes you can use the bus or rail services available outside the airport or a connecting tram service. Journeys take roughly thirty minutes and correspond closely with flight arrival times. Car rental services are also offered inside the main arrivals terminal, along with taxi services on hand to accommodate travellers.
