Taking the Bus from Geneva

Geneva's primary bus station is Gare Routiere, located in central Geneva at the edge of the Paquis district and within walking distance of both Lake Geneva and of Gare Cornavin, the main train station. There are local bus stops nearby. Geneva's efficient bus and tram networks run until midnight each day. There is a special night bus service on some routes on Friday and Saturday nights. Taxis are more expensive and are available at stands throughout the city.

Getting into Lyon by Bus

Lyon is one of France's most beautiful and historic cities. The view from Fourviere basilica is spectacular. Old Lyon, on the banks of the Saone river, offers the visitor a host of Renaissance sights. Buses from Geneva to Lyon arrive at the main bus station, which is located at Perache Railway Station just to the south of the city centre. There are connections to the city's Metro, bus and tram services from the station and the journey to the city centre is about 10 minutes, or half an hour on foot. Taxis are available at designated taxi stands and are more expensive. Most public transport runs until midnight, while there are also selected bus routes which run all night at weekends.
