Flights to St. Andrews
St. Andrews is easily accessible by plane, with regular shuttle bus connections to Edinburgh International Airport and special packages for golf holidays. The town is only around 70 kilometres from Edinburgh International, and plenty of rail and bus connections are available. Airlines flying into Edinburgh include British Airways, Easyjet, Etihad and Ryanair.
Trains to St. Andrews
The nearest train station for travel to St. Andrews is at Leuchars, which enjoys direct connections to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and London. From Leuchars, travellers will need to catch one of the 99 bus routes (labelled A, B, C or D), which leave every ten minutes and take around 10 minutes. There is also a taxi rank outside Leuchars Station, with minibuses available.
Buses to St. Andrews
You can easily use the bus network to travel to St. Andrews. Stagecoach operates regular coaches from both Glasgow (the X24) and Edinburgh (the X59). If you are travelling from Glasgow, expect the journey to take 2 hours 30 minutes, while the journey time from Edinburgh is just under 2 hours. Stagecoach buses terminate on City Road, in the centre of town. From there, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club is around 15 minute walk to the north and the university is a short walk to the east.
