About Ibiza

Ibiza, part of the Balearic archipelago is a small island that is sometimes referred to as the Isla Pitiusa for the abundance of pine trees that characterise its landscape. Although many visitors are drawn to Ibiza for its reputation as a party destination, away from the nightlife of Ibiza Town and San Antonio there is plenty of history and beauty for families and visitors of all ages to enjoy, with stretches of beautiful coastline, sandy beaches, turquoise waters and natural caves.

Quick Guide to Ibiza

Must Know: The old neighbourhoods of Ibiza Town are full of quaint and quiet cobbled streets along with high ramparts giving excellent views across the sea and islands.

Must See: The streets are lined with Gothic-Catalan buildings, pretty courtyards and pleasant squares perfect for people watching over a leisurely coffee and an ensaimada, a local delicacy of sweet flat pastry.

Must Do: Days out can be enjoyed on the island's beaches or by taking a trip to the Cova de Can Marçà with its large caves or the nearby islands of Formentera and Es Vedra. If visitors are on Ibiza for party fun they'll find bars and nightclubs covering all music from techno to rock.

Did You Know: Because of the abundance of pine trees on the island, when the needles fall to the floor they turn the ground a distinctive orange colour.

Best Time to Visit Ibiza

As one of the world's most popular tropical islands, known for its bustling party scene, Ibiza boasts favorable weather all year round. The best time to visit this gorgeous destination depends on your company and interests. From party and nature lovers to adrenaline junkies and foodies, Ibiza has something for everyone. Summer season (May to October) is the best time to visit for perfectly warm weather, outdoor adventures such as windsurfing and hiking, cultural experiences and fine food. Summer festivities in Ibiza kick off with the Moda Adlib Fashion Show and the International Music Summit in May, and the annual gay pride parade in mid-June. Satiate your foodie palate with richly flavored culinary delights as more restaurants open their doors to accommodate the summer crowds looking to enjoy authentic cultural experiences at the Ball Pages event. Being a shoulder season, winter (November to April) sees Ibiza turn green with almond blossoms and wildflowers. This is ideal for those who fancy some peace and quiet away from the crowds. With the summer heat and crowds gone, Spring (April to June) and Fall (September to December) seasons in Ibiza are cooler and more colorful as Winter's blossoms flourish to make outdoor excursions desirable.
