That’s why, when friends visit, I often recommend a day trip from Paris to Normandy by train, a quieter and more offbeat side of France.
Lucky for them, there are several trains running daily between the City of Lights and Rouen, the charming capital of Normandy. The journey takes just over an hour.

The Paris–Normandy route is served by the SNCF Nomad Train, including stops in Rouen. The total distance is only 70 miles (113 kilometers), and the journey takes about 1 hour and 14 minutes, making it a convenient escapade from Paris.
