Finnair History
Finnair began life in 1923 as Aero, founded by Bruno Lucander and offering seaplane journeys to Estonia. The airline is the national flag carrier of Finland and is now owned in a majority stake by the government of Finland, which is the reason Helsinki Airport is the home of the airline. In 2013 Finnair carried over 9 million passengers between Europe and Asia.
Finnair Airports and Destinations
Finnair offers both domestic and international services across Finland, Europe and into Asia; many Asian routes including those to Beijing and Tokyo were initially pioneered by the airline. The airline flies to over 86 destinations across Europe, North America and Asia.
Finnair Services
A lounge is available at Helsinki Airport, with a meal served on all long haul flights accompanied by free soft drinks. All flights offer further food options and alcoholic beverages for an added cost. Almost every plane, in the more than 50 strong fleet, offers LCD video monitors throughout the cabin for in flight entertainment options.
Finnair Ticket Types
A number of different ticket types and classes are offered through Finnair, as a premium airline, they offer passengers the chance to purchase tickets in first class, business class and economy. A recent upgrade has been made to include economy comfort tickets on selected Finnair flights, which offer passengers the chance to upgrade for increased legroom and noise cancelling headphones. Finnair also offers a frequent flier program that provides free tickets for those who reach a specific number of miles flown.
