Bus travel is significantly more sustainable than a plane or car travel. Planes use more energy and require more fuel to cover the same distance, while the inefficient use of space in cars means more trips have to be made to serve the same number of people. Flixbus is one of the leaders in the sustainable movement with buses and is one of the first companies to introduce electric buses, which operated in France back in 2018. The company has also had various solar-powered buses operating in parts of France since 2020.
