This route takes as little as 3 hours 45 minutes to travel between Liverpool and York, with a brief stop in Leeds along the way. The earliest weekday departure is at 6:15 a.m., and the final bus of the day leaves at 2:00 p.m.

Taking the Bus from Liverpool

Buses from Liverpool to York all depart from Liverpool Coach Station. The Coach Station is located on Norton Street, in the eastern half of the city centre, not far from Liverpool University. If you are coming from the eastern suburbs, the Coach Station is also 5 minutes walk from Liverpool Lime Street Station, while local buses connect it to the waterfront districts and regional towns like Crosby and Birkenhead. Liverpool buses run until late, but if you are catching the early bus to York, a taxi may be required.

Getting into York by Bus

York is one of England's oldest cities, being a centre of Roman Britain and the capital of northern England when it was ruled by the Vikings. Visitors can tour the extraordinary cathedral, York Minster, wander around the shops in the Shambles or follow the almost perfectly preserved city walls. All buses from Liverpool arrive at a coach stop next to York Railway Station. From there, you can easily walk to York Minster, or catch bus number 7 into the centre of town. A good way to walk into the old town is by following Queen Street until you get to Micklegate.
