LEGOLAND Windsor
If you’re a family looking for a day out near London then Legoland Windsor is a great way to have fun and celebrate your kids’ creativity. Located on the edge of Windsor in Berkshire, the park is 25 miles from London with easy access via road, rail and (thanks to nearby Heathrow airport) air too. Thorpe Park

Drayton Manor
Drayton Manor is a family-focused theme park and resort near Tamworth, to the north-east of Birmingham. Covering 180 acres, it’s the fourth-largest theme park in the UK and has been thrilling visitors since it first opened in the 1950’s. Paulton’s Park
Encompassing more than 140 acres of beautiful Hampshire countryside, Paulton’s Park styles itself as the UK’s number 1 family theme park. Perched on the edge of the New Forest just west of Southampton, the park has over 70 rides and attractions including a small zoo. Most rides and activities are aimed at children under 14 with many suitable for younger children too and the park has been welcoming visitors since 1983.

Peppa Pig World is the world’s first and largest theme park dedicated to the much-loved children’s character. Tornado Springs is based on a fictional 1950’s Midwestern American town. Oakwood Theme Park
Located near the town of Narberth in Pembrokeshire, Oakwood Theme Park has been welcoming visitors since 1987. Starting out small with water chute, go-karts and BMX bikes, it has since grown to be Wales’s largest theme park featuring more than 35 rides and attractions spread out over the 90-acre site.
Oakwood splits its rides into three categories – Neverland rides are aimed at younger visitors, rides with a balance of fun are Family Adventure rides while the largest and most thrilling are Adrenalin Adventure rides.

Flamingo Land
Flamingo Land Resort is a resort, theme park and zoo in North Yorkshire, next to the village of Kirby Misperton, to the north east of York. Thrilling visitors since it opened in 1959, Flamingo Land started life as the Yorkshire Zoological Gardens and among its first residents was a colony of flamingos. As it developed into the theme park experience it is today, changing the name to Flamingo Land celebrates those early years.

Adventure Island
A landmark in Essex’s Southend-on-Sea, Adventure Island is a free-to-enter seafront theme park with more than 40 rides and attractions as well as a huge variety of side shows, games, restaurants and cafes. There has been holiday fun on its site next to Southend pier (the longest pleasure pier in the world) since 1918 and the park continues to evolve and add new attractions each year.
Operating like a cross between a theme park and traditional funfair, Adventure Island is free to enter and visitors can choose to either pay per ride or purchase a wristband for unlimited rides for the duration of the ticket – a day or a year.
Adventure Island splits its rides by minimum height required to ride, from no minimum for rides aimed at the youngest children up to 130cm minimum for the most adrenalin-fueled experiences.
Rides with no minimum height include the magnificent City Wheel standing 36 meters tall with views city and Thames estuary, the Kiddi-Koaster junior roller coaster, indoor mini adventure AdventureVille and huge soft play area Play Stack.

Fantasy Island
Fantasy Island is a theme park, market, entertainment venue and holiday destination on the Lincolnshire coast, just north of the town of Skegness – not to be confused with the seafront adventure park of the same name in Essex. Fantasy Island opened in 1995 and is centered on a huge pyramid structure which houses indoor rides, restaurants and other attractions. In and around it are a total of 31 rides and attractions including 10-pin bowling and adventure golf as well as static caravans to rent or buy.
Fantasy Island is free to enter and visitors can choose to either pay per ride using the park’s electronic iCard payment method, or buy a wristband which gives unlimited rides for the duration of the ticket - 1 day, 2 day or 1 week.
Rides at Fantasy Island are divided by the height requirement to ride them – Little Explorers are any child under 90cm, Adventurers are 90cm and up while Discovery rides are accessible to those 110cm and up, though individual rides do have additional height requirements.
Little Explorers can ride the whirling Firebowl, take to the air in The Jets or The Balloon Ride or enjoy Toucan Tours and the Seaquarium amongst other things.

Lightwater Valley
Lightwater Valley is a family adventure park near Ripon in Yorkshire, founded in 1969 as a pick-your-own fruit farm. More attractions and activities were added until in 1987 it emerged as Lightwater Valley Theme Park. The park today has more than 40 rides and attractions over its 175-acre site and is aimed squarely at families with children under 12.
Many of the rides and attractions are open to all with no height requirement and there is a strong outdoor adventure component. Those looking for some faster thrills can choose from a wide range of rides such as the Skyrider chair-o-plane ride, the Flying Cutlas pirate ship ride, Eagle’s Claw inverting pendulum ride or Splash Falls giant water ride.

Tickets vary in price based on visitor height, with children under 90cm going free, those over 90cm are £26.50 online or £30 on the day with a £2 discount for senior citizens, NHS, military or emergency workers.
