How to get to Redditch by Train

London Midland are the main provider across most routes serving Redditch, with the majority of non-Midland based services changing at Birmingham New Street. Services to Redditch are available from Liverpool, Crewe and Manchester as well as Cardiff and Bristol although all these routes require at least one change. Redditch's proximity to the UK's second largest city, Birmingham means it has a well equipped transport system. The main train line is located centrally and a number of bus services run from the bus depot adjacent from the train station.

Redditch

Redditch is located in the heart of the UK making it one of the best connected and most visited places in the Midlands. With a rich manufacturing history, the city became a champion of new town planning in the 1960s and was hailed as a model for towns across the UK. These days the area is home to the Forge Mill Needle Museum, a testament to Redditch's history as the needle making centre of the world. It is said by some that during the 1800s the town produced about 90% of the planets needles and fishing tackle. This made the town a prominent and wealthy part of the UK. With interactive models, recreated scenes and a number of pieces of traditional equipment the museum is a fascinating insight into the industry's history. The museum is open for private tours most days of the week but those travelling with large groups should be careful to book ahead as the mill is extremely popular.
