I also noticed that the staff went out of their way to make the journey as pleasant and problem-free as possible. I bought the ticket online at a very fair price. The first train, IC 721, started 30 minutes late in Porto-Campanhã. The seats were uncomfortable and the wifi didn't work. In Lisbon-Oriente I was supposed to change to the AP 184 to Faro. Due to the delay of the first train, I naturally missed the connection. The information at the station was miserable, nobody could help me. After hours of waiting, I finally caught the next train to Faro. The AP 184 was overcrowded and I had to stand the whole way. The air conditioning was faulty and it was unbearably hot. The staff were annoyed and unfriendly. When I asked for compensation, I was turned away. Instead of the planned 6 hours and 51 minutes, I was travelling for over 9 hours. My luggage was damaged on arrival. This train connection is an absolute imposition. Hands off! Better to fly or take the bus. I will never travel this route by train again.

The train was modern, clean and comfortable, with cosy seats and a pleasantly quiet atmosphere - perfect for such a long journey. The service on board was friendly and there was plenty of space for luggage. Punctuality was also a big plus.
The only downside is the high ticket price. I would have liked a slightly cheaper offer for this route. Nevertheless, the journey is a great option if you want to travel from northern to southern Portugal in comfort and without hassle.
