Ethiopian Airlines, established in 1945, is the state-owned flag carrier of Ethiopia, operating from its hub at Addis Ababa's Bole International Airport. As Africa's largest airline, it serves 161 passenger destinations and 68 cargo destinations worldwide. The airline boasts a modern fleet of 167 aircraft, including Boeing 787s, 777s, and Airbus A350s. A member of the Star Alliance since 2011, Ethiopian Airlines offers the ShebaMiles frequent flyer program. The airline is wholly owned by the Ethiopian government and is a subsidiary of the Ethiopian Airlines Group, which is wholly owned by Ethiopian Investment Holdings, the sovereign wealth fund of Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Airlines History
Ethiopian Airlines was set up way back in 1945 and begun operations in 1946 with a flight from Ethiopia to Cairo. In 1984, the airline began using its first Boeing 747, and even set a record for the longest distance travelled by a commercial passenger jet with a flight to New York in the same year. In the present day, Ethiopian Airlines transports over 6 million passengers every year. In addition to these passenger flights, this airline is also responsible for a large number of cargo flights. Ethiopian Airlines is the flag carrying airline of Ethiopia, and its official, international airline.

The main airport from which Ethiopian Airlines operates is Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa.
