Emirate Airlines History
Emirates Airlines was founded in October 1985, when its first two flights flew out from its base in Dubai. Today, that number has increased from two to 1,500 flights each week, carrying 44.5 million passengers from Dubai to over 140 destinations in more than 80 countries on six continents. Its fleet of 220 aircraft is one of the youngest fleets in the sky and is continuing to grow. Emirates Airlines is wholly owned by the Government of Dubai and has a reputation for very high standards. It is this commitment to quality that has seen the airline receive over 400 awards for excellence worldwide.
