Flights to Santander

Santander brings together relaxed, beach resort vibes and buzzing, contemporary urban spaces. The mid-sized Spanish city is easy to access via the nearby airport. Although Santander is busiest during the summer, some airlines offer flights year-round, so those who prefer a quieter holiday have the flexibility to visit out of season.

Which is the main airport in Santander?

Flights arrive at Seve Ballesteros Santander Airport, which is just 3.7 miles from the centre of Santander. Public buses connect the airport with the city. These are provided by Transporte de Cantabria and depart every 30 minutes. Before you travel to Santander by plane - good to know!

In Spain’s bigger, splashier resort towns there’s a danger of heading out for the night, only to be surrounded by other tourists from back home. Santander is still off the beaten tourist track, so when you head out, you can do like the locals do. Be sure to visit Plaza de Cañadío, which always comes to life after dark. Like the rest of the city, the Plaza is easy to reach on a local TUS bus. Or you might prefer to grab a bike from the TUS bike sharing system. TUSbic bike racks are installed all around the local area.

Santander

This beautiful city is nestled on the coast, and covers just 6 kilometres from one end of the town to the other. The Prehistoric and Archaeological Museum of Cantabria is a must-see for anyone interested in ancient history, as it houses over 1,000 artefacts, from the Paleolithic to Iron Ages. The Playa de Langre beach has been voted the best in the area, with miles of golden sand and unspoilt ocean views to enjoy. Visitors should also stop by the Palacio Real de La Magdalena, a 20th century palace once used as a seasonal residence for the Spanish royal family, and today the grounds and peninsula are open for the public to enjoy. The views over the ocean and the cliffs are unparalleled and present a perfect photo opportunity.
